Cipriani Residences Miami, the tallest residential building south of New York City, reached its full height of 950 feet on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the project told Newsweek.

Sharing the news of the tower’s major milestone as an exclusive first with Newsweek, alongside drone images of it topped out, the spokesperson said the building is expected to be fully completed by the summer of 2027, when it will be ready for occupancy.

The latest news comes amid Miami’s ongoing skyscraper boom, with a host of new high-rise buildings transforming the city’s skyline, rivaling that of New York City—the country’s longtime skyscraper capital.

Set in Brickell, Miami's booming high-rise district, Cipriani Residences Miami will later be surpassed by the 1,049-foot Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami, which will be the city's first supertall skyscraper upon completion and reached its 75th floor in May.The Delano Residences Miami, a 985-foot condominium set near the Waldorf Astoria on Biscayne Boulevard, is expected to be completed by 2030.

The latest skyscraper milestone also comes amid growing discussion over the importance of prioritizing the preservation of existing buildings over new construction.

Last month, Gordon Gill, the architect behind the Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia, which will be the world’s tallest building upon completion, told Newsweek that the future of architecture lies not in building higher, but in rethinking what already exists.

“It’s the existing building stock you have to keep your eye on…refreshing that stock and keeping them relevant, part of the sustainability legacy,” Gill, the co-founder of the Chicago-based firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture (AS+GG), told Newsweek, warning that maintaining the “longevity of your stock” is important to “avoid obsolescence.”

Growing International Interest in Florida

South Florida’s rising luxury housing market is at a record high in nearly two decades. Year-to-date sales of million-dollar homes in the area have hit an all-time high since 2008, with 2,040 sales as of February 2026, according to a March report from the Miami Association of Realtors.

Florida has also seen a surge in residents in recent years, being among the country’s fastest-growing states, according to a 2024 U.S. Census Bureau report.

International buyers have been investing in the state to take advantage of the increased housing demand. Buyers abroad have accounted for 52 percent of all new construction sales in recent years, with Latin Americans forming the majority (86 percent) of the foreign buyers, according to a November 2025 report from the Miami Association of Realtors.

More than 80 percent of the units at Cipriani Residences Miami have been sold before its completion, “which is huge,” the spokesperson for the tower told Newsweek, noting the large influx of new developments popping up in Miami.

The record-breaking building, designed by Arquitectonica, with interiors by 1508 London, has drawn international interest, attracting buyers from more than 30 countries across North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, the spokesperson said.

Other Miami Building Projects in the Pipeline

Cipriani Residences Miami is among several other towers being built in Miami, including the aforementioned Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami and the Delano Residences Miami. The Delano will feature Miami’s first public observation deck.

A 955-foot mixed-use tower development has also been proposed for 130 Biscayne Boulevard. Designed by Foster + Partners, the architectural firm of the famed British architect Norman Foster, in collaboration with Miami's Revuelta Architecture, the development will see the demolition of three existing mid-rise structures.

If approved, the 955-foot tower will be among the tallest buildings in Miami, joining several ongoing developments, including the Okan Tower (908 feet) and the 888 Brickell by Dolce & Gabbana (1,049 feet).

Other developments in the work include The Frida Kahlo Wynwood Residences, inspired by the iconic Mexican artist, as well as the Twenty Sixth & 2nd Wynwood Residences, a condominium project designed to allow owners to list units on Airbnb.
